Community Kids...the Children’s Ministry of Community UMC

The MISSION of Community Kids is to:
'show kids the WAY to go' (Proverbs 22:6)

The Church NURSERY

Our mission begins in our Nursery, where our Little Ones learn about God’s love and the special gift of Jesus. The Nursery is always OPEN during our Worship Services and Sunday School, for babies older than 6 weeks through preschool.  Our nursery staff are background screened and trained according to our Child Protection Policies.

Sunday School for Children

Preschool-aged children meet for Sunday School in our nursery classroom, where they are taught using Gospel Light’s ‘Movers and Shakers’ curriculum.

Children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 meet in Room 26 for a ‘One Room School House’ Sunday School lesson.  Because the lesson builds and continues in our worship time, children get the MOST by attending BOTH Sunday School and Children’s Church.

This ministry just for 4th-5th happens on Sunday nights from 5-7:30 p.m. in room 25. Kids will GROW through our weekly discipleship study, "Catching Air", and Bible memorization.  Kids will PROCLAIM through a variety of worship experiences.  And kids will SERVE through our participation in various ministry opportunities, including Compassion International.

Children’s Church

Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers are all encouraged to participate in age-appropriate worship and story times while they are in the nursery.

Children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 begin their worship in the sanctuary during the service.  After a brief ‘children’s message’ children are escorted to Room 26 for Children’s Church.  Children are engaged in a multi-learning approach to worship and teaching, including music, DVD lesson, Bible story-telling, arts and crafts, skits, and snacks.  For both Sunday School AND Children’s Church we use Cokesbury’s ‘GROW’ curriculum. All Children’s Ministry Volunteers are screened and trained according to our Child Protection Policies. (our Sunday morning schedule follows the Church Schedule).

In addition to our weekly Sunday morning activities, we offer additional opportunities for children through the year, including Wednesday Night Family Programming, Seasonal Children’s Choirs, Vacation Bible School, Family Fall Fest, and MORE!  Be sure to click on EVENTS to see a listing of upcoming activities.
